The Chloé Piano Trio was formed in 2017 by talented musicians at the Royal College of Music. They are winners of the 2021 Royal Philharmonic Society Henderson Chamber Music Award, Finalists of the 2022 Park House Awards and current Kirckman Concert Society Artists.
The Chloé Piano Trio brings a vibrant and diverse programme to this concert, featuring music from four different countries, across three centuries and by both female and male composers. The robust trio in a minor by Cécile Chaminade is a dramatic work with folk influences. In Kelly-Marie Murphy's Give my Phoenix Wings to Fly the cycle of a phoenix is portrayed through the three movements of destruction, desolation and rebirth. It is both a colourful, dynamic and virtuosic piece. After the interval, the Trio continues with Haydn's last published piano trio, written during his stay in London - a light, playful work that contrasts with the last piece of the concert, Mendelssohn's monumental Trio No.2.
