Lithuanian-born pianist Evelina Puzaite is quickly establishing a reputation worldwide as a performer of natural sensitivity and strong charisma. Having won numerous International Piano Competitions and a long term contract with Landor Records, she is a regular performer at such prestigious concert venues as the Wigmore Hall, Barbican, and the Southbank Centre.
Evelina Puzaite's exceptional musicality was early noticed at the Ciurlionis School of Arts, where she studied with the prominent teacher Jurate Karosaite. Under her guidance, Evelina has won numerous prizes, including the First Prize at the Rubinstein Piano Competition in Paris, First Prize at the Tel-Hai International Piano Competition in Israel and the Third Prize at the Ciurlionis International Competition in Lithuania.
In 2001, Evelina Puzaite was awarded the prestigious Baltic State Scholarship to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Professor Joan Havill. Evelina received a Masters Degree of Music in Music Performance with Distinction in 2006, and she currently holds an Artists Fellowship at the Guildhall School.
Evelina has performed extensively throughout Europe, including Italy, France, Greece, Sweden, Poland and Lithuania, as well as in Russia, Israel, and the USA. She appears regularly with the Lithuanian Chamber and Lithuanian Symphony Orchestras.
Her recital engagements have included performances at the Usedomer Music Festival in Germany, Festival di Londra in Italy, the first EPTA Festival in Cyprus, and the Presteigne Festival in Wales. She also performed in the opening concert of the Brighton Festival, YCAT/Landor Piano Festival at Wigmore Hall, and collaborated with the Fine Arts Quartet at the Vilnius Festival in Lithuania.
Evelina Puzaite is a recipient of numerous awards, including the Philharmonia Orchestra/Martin Musical Scholarship Fund Award, which led to her recital début at the Royal Festival Hall. Other awards include career grants from the Myra Hess foundation, MBF Music Education, Harold Craxton Memorial Trust, Maisie Lewis, Hattori foundation and the Edenbridge Music and Arts Trust.
In 2006, Evelina Puzaite received the Philip & Dorothy Green Young Concert Artists award, which provided her with numerous recital and orchestral engagements in the UK. She has also received an award from the Kirckman Concert Society, which presented her solo recital début at Wigmore Hall.
Winner of The Abstract Securities Landor Competition in 2006, Evelina Puzaite was awarded a long-term contract with Landor Records. Her début CD Moments Musicaux was released in 2007 to critical acclaim. Evelina's forthcoming recording plans include a recital of Robert and Clara Schumann.
In addition to her piano career, Evelina Puzaite is an avid writer and composer. She has been recognized at the Grodno Composers' Competition, where she was awarded the Second Prize, and her compositions for piano have been published several times in Lithuania. Her first book Tempo Primo - a collection of short stories and poetic insights - will be published in November 2008.
