Auditions

The next auditions for the Kirckman Concert Society will be held in January 2011 (date and venue to be confirmed).

Those eligible to apply - The only soloists who may apply are pianists. Otherwise, applications are accepted from duos and small ensembles.

Age limit - For instrumentalists, the age limit is 30 by the time of any recital offered. For singers this can be flexible, depending on circumstances. For ensembles, an average age of 30 (by the time of any recital offered) will be acceptable. Successful auditionees are likely to be offered a recital during the season following the audition. For example, following a successful audition in January 2008, a recital would generally be offered during the 2008/09 season. Dates are offered in accordance with artists' availability.

Application procedure (please DO NOT submit an application until the relevant forms are available)

Those whose initial application is successful will then be invited to audition. Those whose application is not successful will be notified.

The audition - Auditionees are requested to present a 15-minute programme, including one Classical work and one contrasting (Romantic?) work. Although contemporary works are occasionally performed in recitals promoted by the Society, it is advisable not to include these in the audition.
Since to perform complete works would often exceed the time allowed, individual movements can be performed.
Candidates are requested to time their audition pieces carefully, since time is very limited and auditions which over-run are unfair on later candidates.
A warm-up room is available 20 minutes before the audition.
